Microblading is a new type of semi-permanent solution for those looking to beef up their brows. The microblading process involves the use of tiny needles which make up small blades, not a tattoo gun, that deposit pigment under the skin. The reason that this is not considered tattooing is not just because a tattoo gun is not used. A microblading tool creates thinner hair-like strokes than you can achieve with a tattoo gun, and so the ink that is put on after the cut is made is not deposited as deeply, which is one reason that it is considered a semi-permanent procedure. Microblading will last around three years and will need touch ups every year to keep them looking their best.

The initial procedure takes approximately an hour to complete, not including the initial mapping out. Before you can begin to actually microblade, your technician will map out how your new eyebrows will look with a pencil, and then after that throughout the next hour will be using the microblades to make cuts and deposit the pigment. The process can be considered uncomfortable and so before microblading begins a topical numbing cream is applied. Some people compare the feeling of microblading to getting your eyebrows threaded.

So who is microblading for?

Unless you have perfect full brows, which come few and far between, then microblading is a great option for you. Microblading adds fullness to eyebrows, and can even out the shape of an eyebrow as well as fill in patches and areas that may be sparse or missing.

Microblading is also an option for those who have full, but very light, eyebrows. A darker pigment can be added to the brow area to create the appearance of a fuller and darker brow, which means no more tinting every few weeks.

People who have alopecia can also benefit from microblading, as you do not need any real brows for the treatment to look natural. This is a great solution for those with very sparse brows or no brows at all and will make getting ready in the morning that much quicker.

If you don’t enjoy spending time in the morning putting on eyebrows, or if you simply do not have the time, then microblading could be your solution. It means that there is one less step every day, and eyebrows are really the most important step, as they frame your entire face and brighten and pull focus to your eyes.
